The Yes Ma’am Brass Band is an all female/nonbinary brass band from Austin, TX, originally formed in 2012. Our mission is to create an environment where female & nonbinary musicians can flourish, & to provide representation of marginalized genders on instruments that have been traditionally played by men. We exist for all the little girls who were told to play flute when they wanted to play trumpet or drums, & for every female tuba player who gets asked “Can you really play that?” — because representation matters.
