Samba Knights McCallum High School

Brazilian samba Bateria

The Samba Knights is a Brazilian Carnaval style Batería made up of students from McCallum High School in Austin, TX. It began in 2014 through an Austin Creative Classroom Fund grant spearheaded by then Percussion Director Matt Ehlers and representatives from Austin Samba. The ensemble operates as an after school club which meets from January through May. The Samba Knights perform at school concerts, soccer games and community events throughout the school year and are one of few high school level Brazilian samba ensembles in the state.
